DRUM LOGIC - BACKGROUND
Marcel Sieben, Drum Instructor - I have resided in St. Albert, Alberta since 1961. I have been teaching drums since 1996. As an aspiring musician, I have always had a vested interest in the technical aspects of music and machinery. This led to my studies in Live Sound Reinforcement, Studio Recording and Studio Production @ Grant McEwan College, Edmonton, Alberta (completed in 1983).
In 1995, I joined The International Association of Theatrical and Stage Employees {I.A.T.S.E. Local 210 Edmonton}. As a technician/stage hand, my work involves setting up sound, lighting and staging for concerts and theatrical productions. Setting up band equipment is called the "Back Line" ... and when working a rock show my favorite part of the job is assisting the drum tech to set the DRUMS! See my Event photos.
In 2005, I joined the Francis Winspear Centre as part time stage assistant, where I currently enjoy that position. My work there involves set up for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, choir groups and a wide variety of concerts and cultural productions.
Prior free-lance experience in 2005 includes tech/stage manager for several battle of the bands productions and drum tech/audio for the 2004 Juno Awards ~ Edmonton, Alberta. {CTV-west stage: Sarah McLachlan, Finger Eleven, Simple Plan.}
My nephew J. Wideman - age 11 months, 1996
